Position Summary:

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the purchasing, management, and inventory of all commodity building materials purchased by New England Building Supply (including, but not limited to:  lumber, EWP, I-joist, roofing, metal products, siding, drywall and insulation)


The following is a list of the major responsibilities of the Purchaser:

  • Build codes for new products being entered into our system
  • Receive incoming material into our system
  • Review vendor confirmation to assure accuracy of the orders
  • Communicate with dispatch and sales regarding time sensitive orders
  • Communicate with Management and Sales regarding obsolete inventory
  • Track returned material to determine if credit should be issued
  • Continuously seeks new opportunities to reduce cost of material
  • Measures and tracks vendor performance such as quality and on-time delivery, etc

  • Position requires a self-starter, goal oriented person who is able to initiate and implement accurate pricing for purchases
  • Knowledge must include experience in purchasing/buying , inventory, warehousing, and receiving
  • Mathematical and Reasoning abilities
  • Detail oriented
